The Kitten Problem

Garfield animated cartoon writer Mark Evanier (also writer of the brilliant Groo and more) is having a hard time trapping a stray cat he's (sort of) adopted -- as much as you can adopt any cat. His aim is to do the right thing and have it spayed, but despite taking food from him for eight months of so, it's proven remarkably savvy about what might be about to happen to it. Good luck, Mark! Given the reproduction rate of feral cats and the problems they can cause (bless 'em), you're doing the right thing, honestly. I speak as someone who has rescued a stray myself in the past.

Garfield Gathering!

Garfield devotees from near and far are looking forward to their annual Garfield Gathering in the US in June, to celebrate all things Garfield, one of the comics appearing on ROK Comics WAP services in Pakistan and being translated into Chinese.

Considered a must-do for the serious Garfield collector, this event is sponsored by fans and collectors for the purpose of fun, friendship, and the ever-popular Garfield product swap meet and sale.

This year's convention takes place June 19-22 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Garfield Gets Real

Garfield, available for mobile via ROK Comics in some territories and in the US via GoComics, is up to some frisky business in his brand new all-computer-generated feature film Garfield Gets Real, which will be released on Region 1 DVD on 20 November from Fox Home Entertainment.

Fans can see Garfield, Odie and their pals like never before when the lasagna-loving feline – having grown bored with his life inside a comic strip – decides to venture out into the “real world” in a wild and wacky adventure written and produced by Garfield creator Jim Davis. Realizing that his comic strip will be cancelled unless he can make it back into the cartoon world before the next edition is published, Garfield embarks on a perilous journey back onto the page while evil forces challenge his every turn.

We don't have word on a Region 2 release yet but it's unlikely to be far behind the US debut. Check out the official web site for the latest information.
